Wisdom isn’t a riddle reserved for experts; it is an open invitation.

We take a close, practical look at Proverbs 8 and show how real wisdom starts with the fear of the Lord; knowing, respecting, and obeying God and then making Godly choices about money, speech, and relationships. Along the way, we honor fathers who are doing their best.

We talk candidly about wealth as a powerful but dangerous tool; like fire. In wise hands, it builds and blesses. But without wisdom, it burns lives and hollows out souls.

You’ll hear why chasing money without a moral compass leads to a fragile success, how godly wisdom reorders our desires, and why the pursuit of Jesus, not just good advice, brings durable peace, sound judgment, and a steady heart.

We also address a subtle trap of living a good life built on mixed philosophies that admire Jesus as a teacher but reject Him as Lord, and why that path can feel fine while missing what matters most.

If you’re hungry for a faith that actually shapes your calendar, your budget, and your words; this conversation offers both encouragement and road-tested steps. Expect clear takeaways, a prayer for understanding, and a call to love your neighbor through action.

Listen, reflect, and share this with someone who’s weighing wealth against wisdom.

If this spoke to you, subscribe, leave a review, and tell us one practice you’ll change this week to seek wisdom first.

Proverbs 8:8-14 and 17 - 21 - King James Version
8 All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.

9 They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.

10 Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.

11 For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

12 I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.

13 The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.

14 Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

17 I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

18 Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.

19 My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.

20 I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:

21 That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures.

Matthew 13:22 - King James Version
22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

SPEAKER_00:

Welcome to the Christ Quarter. Thank you for being here with me to take 15 minutes of this day to enjoy the presence of Christ and the words of Christ. Today we will read a section of scripture and discuss what it means and how it applies to our lives. It is my hope that God will speak to you through these words and bring you closer to Him. I am blessed to have this opportunity to speak with you, and I thank you so much for being here with me today. We do not have a sponsor today. Instead, I would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to all the dads out there. The dads that are killing it and living their best lives as dads and really being a great example, teacher, and provider for their family, and for those dads that aren't at that point, but are doing the best that they can. I know of one or two dads that are in the first category, but I think most of us are in the second category. Let's not forget those dads who are awaiting the grand entrance of their first child. Your life is about to change in ways that you cannot fathom. Welcome to the grand adventure. Wherever you find yourself, keep holding on to God and keep doing your best. You are a very important part of God's plan for this world. Keep progressing and keep getting better every day. Today's scripture selection is Proverbs chapter 8, verses 8 through 14, and verses 17 through 21. The King James Version reads as follows. They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge. Receive my instruction, and not silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies, and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride and arrogancy, and the evil way and their forward mouth do I hate. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom. I am understanding, I have strength. I love them that love me, and those that seek me shall find me. Riches and honor are with me, yea, durable riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold, and my revenue than choice silver. I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment, that I may cause those that love me to inherit substance, and I will fill the treasures. The NIV version says, All the words of my mouth are just, none of them is crooked or perverse. To the discerning, all of them are right. They are upright to those who have found knowledge. Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her. I wisdom dwell together with prudence. I possess knowledge and discretion. To fear the Lord is to hate evil. I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech. Counsel and sound judgment are mine. I have insight, I have power. I love those who love me, and those who seek me and find me. With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity. My fruit is better than fine gold. I yield surpasses choice silver. I walk in the way of righteousness along the paths of justice, bestowing a rich inheritance on those who love me and making their treasures full. Let us pray. Lord, we thank you for this day. We thank you for the freedom and the ability to discuss your word and enjoy your presence. Help us to understand your word and your will for our daily lives more fully. We ask that you bless this discussion of your word that will speak to someone who needs to hear from you. We ask that you will use these words to bring someone closer to you, and that you will touch their hearts to love others through action in your name. That each of us will do something to show love to their neighbor in action as well as in word. That each of us will do our best to represent you to the world. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen. The verses for today are calming and motivating. Knowing that wisdom is important and that it is a really good thing to have is nice, but it really doesn't matter if we don't have access to it, or if we don't know how to interpret it. It must be hard to find or hard to understand, right? I mean, if it wasn't, why aren't we all wise and successful? How hard do I have to work to find this wisdom? If it's even all that. Well, it's motivating to me to know that wisdom is out there and it is easy to access. It's calming for me to know that I am who wisdom was made for. God wants me and you to have wisdom and to have amazing lives full of peace and joy. So let's get right to it. Wisdom is not hidden from us. It is not placed high up out of reach, nor is it behind an obstacle. Wisdom is literally an open book to all who would read her words. She is available through the many people who wish to discuss her works with you. I know that many people find the old style language of the King James Version difficult to read and to understand. There are solid, true to the word translations available if you need to read the word in a more modern format. Be careful though. I always go back to the King James Version for clarification. Secondly, the Bible proves itself. Each statement in the Bible can be backed up by another statement in the Bible. If you find any confusing or seemingly contradictory statements in the Bible, refer back to the King James, to a trusted Bible commentary, to a trusted and knowledgeable Christian, or go straight to God by way of Jesus and pray for understanding. One of the privileges of being a Christian is that we have the Holy Spirit within us to help us and to guide us. But even non-Christians have Jesus. Jesus loves each one of us and wants us all to become part of his family. We all have access to him. If you want wisdom, seek Jesus so that you can understand him and God. Wisdom starts with an understanding of and respect for God. When we trust that God wants the best for us, and that following his plan for us is how to live our best lives, we will naturally begin to seek, find, and live in wisdom. This wisdom is the best path for us. We have all heard of people who have come into large amounts of money and had their lives destroyed by it. Money is a very powerful tool, but when used foolishly, it is a destroyer. It's like fire. Give fire to someone who knows how to use it, and they will use it to make great things. They can use it to achieve seemingly impossible goals. Going into space starts with a controlled application of fire. Give that same amount of fire to someone who does not know how to use it, and they will not only destroy their own home, but also the homes of those close to them. Money without wisdom can be and often is a curse. I'm saying this to emphasize how wisdom is so much better than anything else for our lives. Godly wisdom, sending from a knowledge and respect of God, is the foundation for a joyful, peaceful, productive life. On the other side of this are those who love money and seek earthly knowledge as a way to gain more and more of it. These people without a moral compass are often willing to be for froward, froward or perverse in their gathering of money. In their pursuit of cash, the end justifies the means, and they care very little about who they hurt along the way, just as long as they have their cash. These people are obvious examples, and many of them would agree with what I'm saying. A more subtle example, though, are the good non-Christians who may even follow some of the commandments of Jesus. It is a historical fact that Jesus lived and walked this planet. Other historical figures have referred to him and respected his wisdom. Many of these people who review Jesus as having been a wise but deluded man combine his advice with other people's advice and by following this advice live wonderful lives. Especially when you consider that Satan does not attack them the way he attacks Christians. He doesn't need to, he already has them. To attack them might nudge them a little closer to God. And that's the sad part of the story. Since they do not believe that Jesus is the Son of God, that he died and rose again on the third day, they will not go to heaven. They will have a number of happy decades on earth, but they will miss out on eternity. They are more heart-wrenching than the evil person because they are so close to Christianity. They accept Jesus the man but reject Jesus the Son of God. It's very sad. Matthew chapter 13 and verse 22 in the NIV, the New International Version, referring to the Word as a seed, says, The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. You are hearing my words right now, and this is not a coincidence. You are hearing through the scriptures read here the word of God. I am also doing my part to urge you to take these words to heart, to know, to respect, and to obey God. These three together are the fear of God. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. Be wise in your life. That concludes our scripture discussion for today. Thank you for spending this time with me talking about, learning about, and enjoying Christ. It is my hope that God has used my words to touch you today and has brought you closer to Him. Let us pray. Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, in earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
